Grethe was born on September 25, 1925 in Denmark and passed away on December 5, 2009 in Drumheller, Alberta. Like many other Europeans, the Logsted family immigrated to Canada for the increased opportunities offered here. They settled on a farm near Tofield, Alberta. Grethe’s early school years were spent in Tofield and Camrose then following with high school at the Dickson Boarding School. 1949 was a special year for Grethe; she graduated from Edmonton’s Royal Alexander Hospital School of Nursing and on April 16 she and Simon Jensen, of Standard, Alberta were married. Their family of four was raised on the family farm in the community of Standard, Alberta. She is survived by her sons Lawrence (Anne), Don (Peggy) of Standard and Bob (Sharon) of Quesnel, BC; grandchildren Craig (Celeste) Christensen, Jeremy Jensen (Elyse), Janelle (Wade) Evans, Lindsay (Kyle) Anderson, Trisha Jensen (Lance Larsen), Miriam and Diana Jensen; two great grandsons Jayden and Nicholas Jensen; son-in-law Murray Christensen; sister Ellen Hansen, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Sonia, husband Simon, and elder sister Elsie Skanderup. Her family, her church, her friends and music were her greatest treasures. We extend our heartfelt thank you to the Drumheller Hospital Extended Care staff for their love for and care of Mom over the last several years. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Standard at 1:00 p.m. Interment Standard Cemetery.
