CAWIEZEL, Doris Elvira

August 24, 1950 - March 15, 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear and loved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt, Doris Elvira, on March 15, 2015 surrounded by family at the age of 64 years. Doris was born in Drumheller, Alberta on August 24, 1950. She was the third of a family of seven to Harold and Laura Pennock. Doris is survived by her loving Husband Lorry, her sons, Craig (Lori), Lyle (Laura) and Lee. Doris had a special place in her heart for her Grandchildren, Travis, Brittany, Cera, Zach and Skylar. Also survived by her brothers and sisters, Elsie (Erick), Mary, George (Cher), Alan (Darlene), Marg (Len), Gene (Betty) and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Laura Pennock, her Mother and Father-in-law, Richard and Stella Cawiezel and Brother-in-law, Trevor Newton.  Doris received her education at Rumsey and Morrin Schools. On July 12th, 1968 she married the love of her life Lorry Cawiezel, the boy next door. Lorry and Doris lived in Rumsey, Erskine, Rockyford, Morrin and made their final move to the farm at Rumsey in 1980. Here Doris could do what she loved most, flowers, gardening, landscaping and farming. Doris had numerous jobs including babysitting, Caretaker of Morrin Hall, Newton’s Grocery Store, UFA in Rumsey and Drumheller, Trochu Foods and Country Cookers Catering. She was a member of the Red Deer River Garden Club, Rumsey Ag. Society, Two Valley View Birthday Club, Rumsey Curling Club, Morrin Canasta Club and also taught Sunday School. Doris loved to cook for her family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed the large family gatherings but most especially enjoyed family campouts.  She never drove by a greenhouse, auction sale or garage sale. Doris always had a name for every calf and new cow on the farm. She loved oil painting, cake decorating and collecting many pieces for her Christmas Village which totals into the hundreds.  Many thanks to Doctor Graham and the Medical Staff at the Drumheller and Red Deer Hospitals. There will be a Memorial Service on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 1 pm in the Rumsey Community Hall. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Rumsey Ag Society Kitchen Fund. Prairie Winds Funeral Home of Trochu is in charge of arrangements.
