BYERS, Gordon Edward

October 2, 1952 - March 3, 2015

Gordon Edward Byers of Calgary, beloved husband of Marilyn, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) on March 3, 2015 at the age of 62 years.

Gordon was born in Drumheller and graduated from James Fowler High School in Calgary and then went on to graduate from Olds College with an Irrigation Technology Diploma in soil and water. He owned and operated G & D Painting and Byers Painting for over 30 years. Gordon was a member of the Drumheller Kinsmen; Leopold Lodge in Brigden, Ontario; and Mountain View Lions in Calgary. He was a loyal fan of the Calgary Stampeders as well as the Calgary Flames.

Besides his loving wife Marilyn, Gordon is survived by his daughter Kristy (Marty) van den Bosch of Chilliwack, BC; his son Jason (Esther) Byers of Agassiz, BC; grandchildren: Adrianah and Landon Byers and Willem van den Bosch; one sister Cheryl (Ken) Zimmerman; two brothers Craig (Coling) Byers and Ken Byers. He is also survived by mother-in-law Marie Sheppard; sister-in-law Edna (John) Kerrigan; brother-in-law William (Bonnie) Sheppard and Jim (Carrie) Sheppard as well as several nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by his parents Buddy and Ruth (Clark) Byers.

A Funeral Service was held at 2:00 P.M., on Monday, March 9, 2015, at Morrin Community Hall. Interment took place in the Morrin Cemetery.
