Elizabeth Cordiner Stevenson, beloved wife of Ronald Stevenson, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2013 with her family by her side, at the age of 75. Betty was born April 23, 1938 in Falkirk, Scotland moving to Craigmyle, Alberta from Scotland in 1947, at the age of 9. Betty attended Craigmyle School from 1947 to 1954. Following this, Betty attended school in Hanna at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Commercial School in 1955 taking a secretarial course. From 1955 to 1957, she worked in the office at Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary. She married Ron Stevenson on November 9, 1957 in Craigmyle. At that point, she moved to the family farm located near Delia, Alberta where she devoted herself to being an amazing farm wife and mother. Betty was very family oriented and attended many of her children and grandchildren’s sporting events, Christmas concerts and awards ceremonies. She loved sewing, knitting, cooking, gardening and also developed a passion for genealogy later in life. She taught 4-H Sewing and was a devoted member of the Royal Purple in Delia for many years. Betty was predeceased by her mother, Liz Smith; her birth mother, May Ross; her brothers, Robert and John Ross; and her granddaughter Kyla Stevenson. Betty is survived by her devoted husband, Ron; her four children, Joni (George), Robbie (Cheryl), Douglas (Cathy) and Janet (Dave); her eight grandchildren, Trista (Chris), Kirsten (Ryan), Dalyn, Ryley (Allison), Meghan, Shane, Kirby, Kaeleigh; and sister, Sandy (Will). We will all miss her wonderful family dinners and loving, kind nature. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered every day. At Betty’s request, there will be no service.
