MOAR John Stewart (Stewart)

MOAR, John Stewart (Stewart)
August 26, 1924 - August 29, 2013

John Stewart Moar (Stewart) passed away peacefully on August 29, 2013, three days after his 89th birthday. Stewart was born on the family farm in Orkney on August 26, 1924. He farmed with his father, brothers, and Uncle Tommy for over 30 years before slowing down after marrying Ethel Shaw in 1979. Ethel and Stewart moved to Drumheller in 1987 where Stewart soon adapted to town life although he continued to help out on the family farm and attend the Orkney Presbyterian Church with his brother George for several more years. While living in town, Stewart enjoyed going for walks and going out for coffee with his brothers and friends. During their earlier years together, Stewart and Ethel enjoyed square dancing and travelling with their later years spent enjoying activities at the Pioneer Trail Centre and attending the Anglican Church. Stewart was pre-deceased by his sister, Laura (1957); parents, John (1967) and Margaret (1974); Uncle Tommy (1990); brother, Marcus (1996); nephew, Clinton (2004); sister-in-law, Isabel (2005) and sister, Margaret (2010). Stewart was a very kind, quiet, gentle and humble man who valued family above all else. He will be sadly missed by his friends, his remaining brothers, George and Robert (Betty); sister-in-law, Alice; nephews, Brent and John (Wanda); nieces, Laura and Maureen (Me|); great nephews, Grayson and Chad (Kim, Dylan, Zac); great niece, Teanna; Ethel’s children, Ray (Joan) and Sharon (Gerry); grandchildren; Louise (Greg), Sheldon (Carol); Debbie (Al); Jill (Cameron); Colleen (Craig) and great grandchildren, Jordan, Jared, Alex, Hunter and Rylan. Please join Stewart’s family in a celebration of his life on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the Anglican Church in Drumheller at 1:00 p.m. There will be a lunch after the service at the Pioneer Trail Centre followed by a private family gathering at the Orkney Presbyterian Church and burial at Sarcee Butte. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pioneer Trail Centre would be greatly appreciated.
