ARVIDSON, Oscar Emil

Oscar was born 100 years ago in Winnifred, Alberta and passed away peacefully in Linden, Alberta on August 12, 2013. Oscar farmed all his life beginning in Winnifred, Ab. with his father Peter and mother Gerda. The family moved first to Craigmyle and then finally settled in the Mount Vernon area. He was the oldest of six children and is survived by his sisters Jenny, Clara, one brother Herman and all their children. He married Margaret McKibbon from Trochu, Alberta in 1944 and they remained residing together in the Linden nursing home until his passing. They enjoyed a 69 year marriage producing two sons. Gordon, Wayne and Margaret Arvidson will sadly miss their father and husband. Gordon is married to Judy and he has two children, Candace (Jean) Roux, Ryan (Anne) Arvidson and four grandchildren - Paige Roux, Sydney Roux, Liam Arvidson and Jake Arvidson. Wayne is married to Donna and they have two children, Vince (Christina) Arvidson, Heather (Chelsea) Arvidson. Vince has two children, Cora and Mia Arvidson. All the grandchildren survive Oscar and miss their loving great grandfather. Oscar was very active in the communities of Three Hills, Ghost Pine and Mount Vernon. He was proud to call these communities his home. He was also very proud of his boys and joined them joyfully on the baseball fields and in many other activities. We the family of Oscar, would like to thank all the past and present friends for bringing joy to Oscar’s long and well lived life. As Oscar would have said himself - “Couldn’t be better”. Funeral service for Oscar will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Three Hills United Church.
