SEIBEL Allan Lloyd

SEIBEL Allan Lloyd

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Allan Lloyd Seibel.  He died peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2012 after a brief battle with Cancer.  He was surrounded by the love of his family until the end.   He is survived by his loving wife, Wendy; sons, Garth (Sandra), Graeme (Tia), Steve (Christine) and daughter, Shauna (Darcy Jensen); grandfather of ten:  Daniel, Jeffrey, Christopher, Kameron, Devin, Taylor, Matthew, Laura, Katie and Eric.  He is also survived by his brother, Dennis (Mary Ann) Seibel, sister, Merna Seibel, sisters-in-law, Judy Lamothe and Marylea (Frank) Lowen, and brother-in-law, Blair (Ann) Sibbald and numerous nieces, nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Martha Seibel, infant granddaughters, Kristin and Katherine Seibel and brother-in-law, Bruce Sibbald.  Allan was born and raised in the Drumheller area.  He attended the Humbolt, Drumheller and Morrin schools and then received his Journeyman’s ticket in Mechanics at SAIT.   He developed his trade at E.O. Parry’s in Morrin, Shepherd & Sons in Rumsey, and Western Chev-Olds in Drumheller.  Later, he was able to purchase the Munro Homestead  where the family built a new home and had so many good times.   In 1982, Allan began driving the mail route between Drumheller and Stettler, and he continued this for eighteen years and made so many good friends.   Allan had a passion for perfection and it showed in everything he touched.  He took pride in his clean and well-repaired machinery and he worked hard to grow the best crops he could.  All his life, Allan loved automobiles, especially old ones and in his later years he rebuilt a 1949 Mercury pick up from the ground up.  He was so proud of that.  Retirement brought open roads, which led Allan and Wendy to Arizona where they found a second home with more friends and activities that, of course, included more cars and car shows.  The warm weather was perfect and Allan really loved his games of pool.  Most mornings the phone would ring and it would be someone asking if Allan could come out and `play`.  Allan’s zest for life was infectious and he had a real need for people in his life. Allan`s family never doubted his love for them – he never expressed it in words too often, but it was evident in all he did.  Allan`s sense of humor endeared him to many - either you were in on the joke or the joke was on you, but there was and always will be laughter when you think of Allan.   A Celebration of Allan`s life will be held at Knox United Church Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at the Munson Cemetery.  A luncheon will be served at the Munson Community Hall and all are invited to attend.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tom Baker Cancer Center 1331 29 St NW  Calgary, AB T2N 4N2.
