Wilma was born February 27, 1928 in Hanna, Alberta to parents William and Victoria Waring. Wilma’s natural mother died the same year and she was raised by her step mother Jeanie. Wilma lived in India for five years, doing missionary work with the Salvation Army. In 1962 Wilma married Ralph Cheney and they had two children, Edward and Ralph. Wilma is survived by her loving husband Ralph, her two children: Edward and Ralph; four grandchildren along with her sister; Orient (Ora) Pickering, nephew Bill (Chris) Pickering and their son Willie. Wilma loved gardening, and volunteering for many different things, as well as attending church and being with her family and friends. Wilma was awarded fifty years of soldier ship with the Salvation Army in 1993. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Salvation Army Church in Drumheller, Alberta 242-1st Street West. Interment will follow in the Hanna Cemetery, Hanna, Alberta. Donations may be made in honour of Wilma to the Salvation Army Church & Community Services, P.O. Box 3097 Drumheller, Alberta T0J 0Y0.
