DIETRICH, Jeanette Dorothy (nee Hendricks)
November 18, 1932 - May 6, 2010

With much sadness the family of Jeanette Dietrich, announce her passing on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the age of 77 years. She grew up in Rockyford, Alberta. After school she      was employed at the Municipal District Office for 1 ½ years. Her office career was cut short when she met and fell in love with her soul mate Ed Dietrich. They married in 1953, moved to Lomond and farmed there for three years. In 1956 they moved to Rumsey where they farmed for 31 years, raised their four children and enjoyed living in a community where good friends, special memories and lasting friendships grew.  Jeanette worked side by side with Dad on the farm and still maintained her role as a homemaker/mother. In 1987 they sold the family farm and retired in Rumsey for 5 years then moved to Drumheller. Jeanette once off the farm had time to explore the work world and began working for the Co-op selling flowers, canvassing for different charities and working the elections; all brought her more joy  and fulfillment. After Dad’s passing in 2003 Jeanette continued to reside in Drumheller. Family was very important to Jeanette and as a result her family has stayed strong together with love. Jeanette was a fun loving person who made a personal connection with all who met her, young and old. Jeanette enjoyed gardening, knitting/crocheting, sewing, dancing, marbles, cards, curling (in her younger years), behind the glass curling (in later years), spending time with family and friends. Jeanette was predeceased by her parents, two sisters Marie Brosseau and Rita Hendricks. She will be greatly missed by her children Gordon (Brenda) Dietrich; Diane (John) Celik; Darlene (Nicky) Sereda; Sharon Martin (Frank) all of Drumheller; her brother Norm (Mary) Hendricks of Strathmore; brother-in-law Clarence (Bernice) Brosseau of Three Hills; sister-in-law Kathryn Dietrich of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister-in-law Jean Forester of Calgary; 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at The Drumheller Alliance Church in Drumheller on Thursday, May 13 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Drumheller Hospital or Stars. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements.
