SANDERS
Norman Russell

December 26, 1941 - April 4, 2018

Norm was born in Bassano, Alberta to Lottie and Herb Sanders. He is survived by his wife Bev, three children - Stacey (Kari), Tyran (Peg), and Nicole (John). Six grandchildren - Kyle, Ali, Maddy, Lexie, Hayden, and Hunter. Norm was a wonderful brother to Willie (Zella), Eileen, Helen and Shirley; a brother-in-law to Clarke VanHereweghe, Marie Sanders and Orlene and Lorne Bishop; an uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Norm was predeceased by his parents, infant brothers Robert and Carl, brother George, sister Elsie, mother-in-law Irene Bardell, brother-in-laws Brian Larsen, and Keith Bunker, and sister-in-law Rae Murray. Norm was raised in Hussar and graduated from Hussar High School. After a brief stay in Calgary he returned to Hussar and started his oilfield career with Armsco Well Service. In 1963 he was offered employment at Canadian Pacific Oil and Gas (later known as Pan Canadian Petroleum) where he worked until his retirement. These years included moves to Bassano, Drumheller, and Brooks. His favourite pastimes were curling, baseball and golf, as well as time spent in Arizona. Nothing gave Norm more enjoyment than watching his precious grandchildren participate in hockey, ringette, volleyball, dance and all other activities. Norm and Bev moved to Camrose in 2010. This was a great move as it allowed them to be within an hour driving time of their children and grandchildren. Norm was a great man where enthusiasm, honesty, love and kindness always shone through. He took an interest in everyone. Family and friends were so special to him he truly will leave a large void in all that knew him. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Hussar Community Hall at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made in Norm’s name directly to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation (#200, 119 – 14 St. NW, Calgary T2N 1Z6).
