GENGOS
Harry “Bim”

January 22, 1931 - March 9, 2018

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Harry “Bim” Gengos on Friday morning, March 9, 2018. After a long, tiring battle with cancer and dementia, Harry went quietly in his sleep under the wonderful care of the team at Rosehaven in Camrose, Alberta. Harrolombus ‘Harry’ Gengos was born January 22, 1931 in Moree, N.S.W., Australia to Vasilios (Bill) and Calliope Gengos after immigrating from the island of Kythira, Greece. As the youngest of 7, Bim learned early on the importance of hard work and determination, and it served him well in a sales career spanning 2 continents and over 50 years. It was while he was working in Montreal, Canada that he met a young nurse named Ann Tweedy. They returned to Australia and married on February 16, 1968 and started a family. Harry worked full time while attending night school to earn his business degree with young kids at home. The family returned to Canada in 1975 and settled in Alberta where Harry’s success in agricultural sales and marketing all over North America provided his family a wonderful life for over 30 years. Storyteller, teacher, protector, and provider; Harry loved a good laugh and was always the first to lend a hand. Dedicated husband, loving father, beloved grandfather, favorite uncle, or cherished friend, Harry will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to have known him. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Ann Gengos (Tweedy); his son Ian (Michelle); his daughter Nicki (Chris); grandchildren Nicholas, Andrew, Alex, Alora, Willem, and Hale; his sister Helen Frere; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Celebration of Life is planned for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Sheraton Hotel in Red Deer, Alberta. Please join us to share some stories, tell some jokes, and send Harry on his way with laughter and love.
