It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the sudden & peaceful passing of Joan Margaret O’Brien, loving wife, mother & grandmother. Joan lived in Carbon for the past 36 years, passing away April 18, 2017 at the age of 70 years. Joan & Tim, moved from England in September of 1981 with their five children, Anthony, Steven, Brian, Louise & Shaun. Joan leaves to mourn her loss and cherish her memories with her husband Tim, children; Anthony (Alison), Steven (Christine-deceased) Brian (Renee) Louise (Ray) & Shaun (Sarah), grandchildren; Jamie, Amanda, Connor, Kieran, Liam, Colin, Kayley, Ava, brother; Derek, sisters-in-law; Dawn Leaman, Susan Leaman, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Phyllis Leaman (Ackland), father Alfred Leaman, brothers; Alfred Leaman, Terry Leaman and Colin Leaman, sister, Dorothy Leaman, mother-in-law, Elizabeth O’Brien, brothers-in-law; Vivian O’Brien, Shaun O’Brien, daughter-in-law; Christine O’Brien (Siemens). Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes in Drumheller. Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Carbon Community Church (Aberdeen Avenue, Carbon, Alberta) with clergy Bill Parsons officiating. Interment followed at the Carbon Cemetery. A gathering and light snacks followed at the Carbon Community Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, online at www.heartandstroke.ca or 110-1525 Carling Ave., Ottawa, Ontario, K1Z 8F9
