Marguerite, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on March 3, 2017. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and George Boyd of Morrin, Alberta, her husband Walter Read, and her daughter Cheryl. Marguerite is survived by her daughter Linda; her son Lindsay; his children Marc (Barb), Kelly (Nigel), Kirk (Van Ho), and Adam (Natasha); Cheryl’s son Daniel Burgess (Heidi); his two sons Aaron and Ben; and Cheryl’s daughter Shelilah Read. She was blessed with nine great-grandchildren. Marguerite began teaching at the age of 18 in a one room schoolhouse with nine grades. She also taught in Rocky Mountain House, Stettler, Wildwood and Spruce Cliff in Calgary. She retired in 1981 at the age of 57 and especially enjoyed the winters she spent in Yuma during the 1990’s. She was active and enjoyed relatively good health into her 90’s. A Memorial Service will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Marguerite’s memory directly to a charity of your choice.
