It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Manley LaRoy Thomson of Drumheller, Alberta beloved husband of Barbara Thomson on January 12, 2017 at the age of 83 years. Manley worked at the Railway until he joined the Air Forces in 1955, serving until 1958 where he met and married Barbara Marsh on July 12, 1958 in London, Ontario. The family moved back to Alberta to the family farm where they raised three children. Manley sold the farm and moved to Drumheller in 1978, where he worked for the Alberta Wheat Pool. He held three different positions including Assistant Manager in Munson until his retirement. Manley was a very active member of the ELKS of Canada for the past 54 years. He was initiated into the Big Valley Lodge and then transferred to the Drumheller Lodge #54. Manley became an enthusiastic member of the Big Country Swingers Square Dance Club in 1987. He held various positions with the club. He also was a member to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #22 for 19 years. Manley was a very community minded man, his help was just a phone call away. Manley will be sadly missed by his family and a lifetime of friends.
