ALFORD, GORDON DAVID

With heavy hearts and deep sadness, we announce the passing of Gordon David Alford. Gordon passed away peacefully in Drumheller with his family around him. He faced his battle with cancer bravely, calmly and with acceptance. He always remained kind and considerate to family and friends. Born November 10, 1951 in Drumheller, youngest son of the late Alexander Robert and Marie Aline (LeFerve) Alford. He will be dearly missed by his wife Patricia (Parker), children; Eric (Nicki), Eliot, Wendy (Lawrence), Tobias (Nicole); grandchildren; Shania, Darian, Lorne, Melissa, Megan, Madeline, Austin, Mitchell; great granddaughter Adele; brother James (Sylvia) Alford, Robert (Diane) Alford, Sister, Euphemia (Raymond) McCleod, and many nieces and nephews and friends. Gordon always enjoyed time spent with friends and family. He was known to have a heart of gold and would always go that extra mile. He enjoyed working on projects with family, enjoyed backyard bbq’s, get togethers and tubing down the river. He grew up in North Drum and moved to Wayne in 1980. He believed in community involvement, thus ensuring the “KIDS” had an outdoor rink and baseball diamond at the Wayne Hall. In 1990, as Chief Operator at the Water Treatment Plant, he won the Drinking Water Challenge in Southern Alberta. He moved to Rosedale and married Patricia where they spent many wonderful days building a garden envied by many. Gordon worked for TKNT Mechanical before retiring in 2014. Gordon will be missed by all who knew him. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, and son John Wilton. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Rosedale Community Hall on Friday, January 20 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes can be made to the Rosedale Recreation Society, P. O. Box 857, Rosedale Station, Alta., T0J 2V0, for beautification projects or to STARS. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Home in care of the arrangements.
