GRIEVE, HELENE (HELEN) MARIA

Helene (Helen) Maria Grieve, 79, of Cochrane, Alberta passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2016. Helen was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan on September 8, 1937. She married Boyd Grieve on July 21, 1961 and began a journey of living in several towns in Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and Alberta, making lifelong friends along the way. Helen kept busy with her hobbies and will be remembered for her sewing talents and also the many crochet and knitting projects she made for her children and grandchildren. Helen’s kind heart and the ability to make everyone feel at home will be a cherished memory by her family and friends. Helen is preceded in death by her husband Boyd and her parents, Hans and Esther Kohnke. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her children Linda (Don), Cindy (Kevin) and Brent (Cori) and her grandchildren Jeffrey, Eric, Hailey, Erin, Dryden and Brenna and by Helen’s sister, Doreen. Helen’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the care teams at the Tom Baker Cancer Center, Cochrane Home and Palliative Care and at the Dulcina Hospice. A Celebration of Life come and go tea will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Frank Wills Memorial Hall, 405 – 1st Street E, Cochrane, Alberta from 1:30 to 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.
