HERRON, EILEEN JOYCE

December 30, 1953 - November 12, 2016

Eileen Joyce Herron of Drumheller passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 12, 2016 at the age of 62 years. Eileen was born in Drumheller on December 30, 1953 to Doug and Norma Borwick of the Orkney community. Raised on the farm, Eileen attended the one-room school in Orkney until grade 6, then completed her schooling in Three Hills. She then moved to Calgary where she worked a variety of jobs until she found her calling in banking with CIBC. In 1978 Eileen married Thomas Herron; they resided in Calgary together. Wanting to be closer to her family, she transferred to Drumheller where she and Tom made their new home. After many years with CIBC, Eileen began a new career with RBC. For the last 21 years, Eileen considered the staff there her “Work Family”. Eileen loved her job because of her colleagues and many clients. She was always proud of her volunteer activities which benefitted the local community. Many of you may have seen her volunteering at the Dragons’ games. She also participated in the Terry Fox Run for many years. The most important part of Eileen’s life was spending time with her family. She was a very special Aunty to her nieces and nephews. Also very dear to her were Tom’s children and grandchildren. Eileen enjoyed (and instigated) many of the shenanigans at the annual Sisters’ retreats, summers at Mud Creek, and all family get-togethers. Eileen will be lovingly remembered by her husband Tom, her siblings Linda (Garry) Wetanko, Deb (Cal) Werner, Mike (Judy) Borwick, Donna Wilton, Karen (Chris) Hagen, and her nieces and nephews Sheila (Jason) Wetanko, Wes (Carly) Wetanko, Chris Werner, Megan Werner, Spencer (Ria) Cole, Matt (Jenna) Hagarty, Holly Borwick, Jordan Wilton, Colleen Wilton, Jackson Hagen, great nieces Sarah Cole and Clementine Hagarty, and step-children, David, Terry, Donna and their families. Eileen was predeceased by her parents Doug and Norma Borwick and her brother-in-law David Wilton. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Badlands Community Facility. Donations may be made in memory of Eileen to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre or the Drumheller and Area Health Foundation. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.
