Robert Ezra Redgwell died peacefully on October 12, 2016 at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Shirley Maxine (nee Olsen) of Victoria, B.C. for over 59 years; Bob will be lovingly remembered by his two children, Janet Hoadley-Redgwell (Kevin) of Whitby, Ontario and James Ian Redgwell of Detroit, Michigan, and two grandchildren Jessica and Rebecca Hoadley. He was predeceased by his older brother David (Joyce) and survived by his sister Mary (Don) and brother Wilson (Cheryl). Bob was born on the Ides of March 1933 in Drumheller, Alberta and worked on the family farm near Hesketh where he excelled as a pitcher for the local team. He met his wife Shirley in the church choir in Drumheller. Early in his career Bob joined Canada Trust as a Chartered Accountant in Lethbridge moving on to Vancouver, Saskatoon and to the company’s head office in London, Ontario. He rose to the positions of Vice President, Comptroller and Vice President of Audit Services and served as a member on several boards. Bob was someone with a keen mind with many interests and he never stopped learning. Pursuing his interests in Geology and Astronomy, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Western Ontario as a mature student attending evening classes. Bob enjoyed many leisure activities including art, cooking, baking, music, bridge, crosswords, golf and was a member of Kinsmen and Rotary Club. Travel was a priority for Bob, studying the geology and geography of over 40 countries and all Canadian provinces. One of his many treasured trips was sailing the North-West Passage on an icebreaker expedition. Bob and Shirley retired in London, moved to Victoria B.C. and enjoyed many happy days there. He wishes to leave with no memorial services. His ashes will be interned at the Mountain View Memorial Garden in Calgary, Alberta at a future date.
