Condolences to the family of ROSE-MARIE CECILIA OLSON

Rose MarieOlson

OLSON, Rose-Marie Cecilia

February 26, 1957 - May 26, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sister and daughter, Rose-Marie on May 26, 2016 as a result of a tragic traffic accident in Vina del Mar Chile where she resided. Rose-Marie was born on February 26, 1957. She was the eldest daughter and the second born of Francis and Lorraine Olson’s seven children. Rose-Marie is survived by her daughter Stefanie, her mother Lorraine, 3 brothers and 3 sisters and their spouses; Mark and Suzanne, Duane and Ann, Joanne and Dale, Paul, Michelle, Pauline and Dennis; and her 9 nieces and nephews; Reid, Dean, Sarah, Jessica, Oscar, Maria, Erik, Dylan and Robert. She is predeceased by her father Francis Olson. Rose-Marie lived the last 27 years of her life in South America with her daughter Stefanie. She was the proud member of the Union Church in Vina del Mar where she was loved by all. Her proudest achievement would have been to see her daughter Stefanie graduate from the University Adolfo Ibanez with a degree in business at the end of this year. Rose-Marie was a one-of-a-kind character with a vibrant spirit who will live on in the hearts and minds of her family and friends. She was always the “life of the party” with a great intellect, a quick wit and a deep desire to connect with all people. She loved to be with people and make them laugh. She was a proud and devout Christian and had a passion for the arts, fashion, music, culture and fine food. She was famous for her apple pies, a wiz at Soduku and virtually unbeatable at Canasta and Scrabble. Rose-Marie’s funeral service was conducted on May 29 at the Union Church in Vina del Mar, Chile. Her body was laid to rest at the Cementerio de Disidentes located in Valparaiso, Chile. The hill that her grave site is located on overlooks the ocean and is called “Happy Hill” in Spanish. A mass will be held for Rose-Marie at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Drumheller on September 17 at 11:00 am. A lunch and memorial will be held immediately following the service at the Catholic Hall next door.
