Condolences to the family of WINNIFRED MAE JACKSON

WINNIFREDJACKSON

JACKSON, Winnifred Mae (Hooker)

February 2, 1932 - July 2, 2016

Winnie Mae died suddenly in hospital at the age of 84. She is survived by Edward, her husband of 66 years, and their 6 children: Judy Weppler,
Donna (John) Reid, Jim (Jacquie), Jan, Randy (Tracy), and Laura (Paddy) Lamb, as well as her brother, Donald Hooker, of Calgary, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was born to James and Winnifred Hooker in Drumheller, AB. Winnie Mae excelled at the piano and at school. Her father and uncles operated the ”Hooker Brothers Meat Market” where she worked after school and on Saturdays. Winnie Mae won the Governor General Medal in Grade 9 and was Valedictorian at her graduation from Drumheller High School in 1950. She met and married her high school sweetheart, Ed, and they followed the Gulf Oil seismic crew to many small Alberta communities with two small children before moving to Edmonton 1954. After the arrival of four more children, Ed and Winnie Mae built a home on an acreage in Sherwood Park in 1962 where, in 1976, they started Jackson Power & Electric, an oilfield service company out of their garage. They managed JPE until 2000 and it is still in the family. In 2014 they moved to Bedford Village in the center of Sherwood Park. Winnie Mae and Ed attended many Drumheller school reunions over the years. The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, July 30th at 2 p.m. at the Glenwood Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 52356 Range Road 232, Sherwood Park. (780-467-0971) Glenwoodmemorial.com.
