Condolences to the family of WONNACOTT WILLIAM MICHAEL

DOVE 1

Wonnacott, William (Bill) Michael

June 16,1949 - November 20, 2015

WiIliam (Bill) Michael Wonnacott was born in Victoria, BC, June 16th in 1949 to Walter and Jill Wonnacott. Of his 2 brothers, Doug and Russ, he was the oldest. After school, Bill got his Heavy Duty Mechanic certificate, and began working for John Deere. Around this time Bill met his first wife, and soon had three children: Leanne, Tina, and Stuart. Ten years later Bill met and married the love of his life, Leigh Wonnacott, and after marriage, had two more boys: Michael and Matthew. Bill and Leigh soon decided to move from Prince George, to Grande Prairie, Alberta. In 1999 Bill and Leigh moved the family to Rumsey to be closer to his father. Rumsey was like heaven to him, all the peace and tranquility. Bill spent the next several years working as the Village Foreman for the Village of Morrin, and volunteering for the Rumsey and Morrin Fire Departments. In his time off, Bill enjoyed doing home improvements and splitting wood. His ideal evening was spent watching any and all sports (except soccer), while enjoying a cold beer. Bill retired, but due to boredom picked up a few hours a week at Freson Bros. It wasn’t until the last years of his life that he caught the travel bug with his first visit to Mexico. At the age of 60, he began learning Spanish, with hopes of selling everything and move to a beach in Puerto Vallarta. He did not have the chance to realize that dream, as he passed November 20, 2015 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary due to a sudden and massive heart attack. He will be greatly missed. Burial will be at the Rumsey Cemetery June 16th 2016 at 11:00 a.m. After there will be an informal memorial service held in Rumsey at the Wonnacott house (the old church), BBQ/Potluck lunch, bonfire and music to follow.
