REMEMBERING DONNA GRIFFITH

DonnaGriffith

GRIFFITH, Donna

December 19, 1958 - March 25, 2016

On March 25, 2016 Heaven gained a beautiful angel when Donna Griffith, a loved; daughter, sister, wife, auntie, mom, and nanie, passed away at the age of 57 after a long courageous battle with breast cancer. The love for Donna will continue with her husband of 33 years, Keith Griffith, daughter, Jolynn (Trygve) Pugh, son, Kacey (Shaina) Griffith, and her 4 wonderful grandchildren, Keely and Tryp Pugh, Rexstin and Klyde Griffith. She will be forever remembered by her parents, Don and Betty Melvin, sister Joani (Graham) Robertson, Raven and Cole Robertson, mother-in-law, Geraldine Griffith, Lori Griffith, Lance (Mary) Griffith, Elsa (Kevin) Martin and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Donna was predeceased by her grandparents, George and Verda Melvin, Curt York, Bill and Hazel Snodgrass, father-in-law Dave Griffith and brother-in-law Del Griffith. Mom had a passion for the ranching way of life. She loved riding with her family to check cows, inspect the new baby calves, and lend a hand to her neighbours. Her other lifelong love was rodeo, both competing and spectating. Mom enjoyed roping, riding, and barrel racing. She worked for the Alberta High School Rodeo Association taking rodeo entries and volunteered at the Handhills Lake Little Britches, Handhills Lake Stampede and 4-H Rodeos. Mom immensely enjoyed watching her son, son-in-law and friends compete in rodeos but her favourite people to watch ride and rodeo were her grandkids. Mom was a bus driver for the Prairie Land School Division driving to Delia School for 15 years. She drove over 200 km /day, one of the longest routes. Mom enjoyed the kids on her route, watching them grow and change through the years. Mom was a great friend to so many and a wonderful neighbor. She was a loving and selfless person, always putting others first. Mom had a beautiful soul that will now watch over all those she loved. A huge thank you to the staff on the Oncology Palliative unit in Red Deer for all their love, support and care towards mom. Also thank you to all the friends and family who lent a hand at the ranch during this battle. A Celebration of Life for Donna will be held Saturday April 2, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Delia & District Community Centre, Delia, Alberta. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Rainbow Society of Alberta/Southern Division in Memory of Donna Griffith, P.O. Box 1153 Station M, Calgary, Alberta, T2P 2K9, (email address is sharonf@rainbowsociety.ab.ca). Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.
