NAIL, Gregory Robert
May 1, 1955 - February 21, 2016
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing Gregory Robert Nail. Greg passed away peacefully after a very long and courageous battle with his health. Greg is survived by his soul mate of 43 years Heather, son Russell (Wendy), and daughter Cristy (Curt). He also has 5 very special grandsons whom he loved more than life itself, Jayden, Ashton, Jayse, Tanner & Kody. Greg coached hockey, played hockey and baseball, was a leader of the Hussar 4-H Beef Club. Together with Heather he was very involved in the purebred Simmental business and met many lifelong friends there. He served many years on church council as well as 16 years on the Hussar Credit Union Board. He also served 12 years on the Credit Union Central Board, holding many positions. He was also a delegate to the Canadian Co-operative Association and the Co-operators as well as a director on the Gold Eye Foundation Board and the Alberta Community & Co-operative Association Board. Family and church were very important in Greg’s life. He also had a passion for travel, enjoyed camping, was a true and natural farmer (combining was one of his favourite things to do) and loved his special dog “Lizzy”. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 25th at 2:00 pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Dalum, officiated by Pastor Dan Hendrickson. Special thanks to ALL the staff at the Drumheller Health Centre for the exceptional and compassionate care. An extra special thanks to Dr. Olfert for taking extra good care of him, we especially loved your stories. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Dalum Bethlehem Lutheran Church, STARS or the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Greg will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
