CUNNINGHAM, Alice (nee Swain)

December 27, 1926 - February 11, 2016

Alice was born in Wayne, AB on December 27, 1926 and passed away on February 11, 2016 at the age of 89 years. She was the youngest of 11 children born to Mary and James Swain. At the age of 18 she married Phillip Cunningham. Alice and Phil made their home in the Drumheller Valley. They started raising their family in Wayne, AB then moved to Rosedale where they lived for many years then moving to Drumheller where she would spend the rest of her life. Alice was predeceased by her parents and her ten siblings. Also she was predeceased by her husband Phil and four of her children Barbara, Valerie, Marion and David. She is survived by her 9 other children, Jim (Lynda) of Red Deer, Raymond of Drumheller, Gordon (Judy) of Rosedale, Cecil of Kelowna, Gail (Ron) Ensminger of Three Hills, Debbie (Brent) Scarlett of Rosedale, Donna (Rob) Thomas of Rosedale, Laurie of Drumheller, MaryJane (Gilles) Lafond of Cochrane. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her happiest times were when she was surrounded by her family. She loved a game of crib and when she would lose her favourite saying was....I have to pay for my lessons too but she never lost too many games. Funeral mass was held on Tuesday, February 16, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Donations can be made to the Drumheller Area Health Foundation specified to Long Term Continuing Care.
