Born on June 26, 1942 in Portland, Jamaica; Jeff passed peacefully on January 4, 2016. Following a graduate degree at the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica, Jeff moved to Edmonton in 1969 to complete his specialty in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 1974, he then moved to Drumheller where he established his practice and met the love of his life, Nellie. Throughout his time in the valley, Dr. Chung helped bring thousands of babies into the world and cared for many patients until his retirement in 2012. Along with his passion for time with family (especially his grandchildren), Jeff found enjoyment in numerous sports like tennis, badminton, ping pong, and of course his weekly rounds of golf with good friends. During his life, Jeff developed an affinity for old cars, however he upgraded to the car of his dreams shortly before he retired. Jeff was able to experience many cultures as he and Nellie travelled to many corners of the world. During his retirement, Jeff was able to dedicate more time to daily workouts at the BCF, playing cards, and fine-tuning his gardening skills. In addition to his professional contributions to the community, Jeff also served as a Trustee for the Separate School Division. He was a long-time member of the Drumheller Kinsmen Club, then subsequently the K-40’s, where he formed many great friendships and he truly cherished his camaraderie with the guys. Jeff will be missed by his loving wife of 39 years, Nellie, children Mark (Bailey), Wes, Alicia (Rob Doud, Lillie, Preston, Liam), and Gary. Also mourning are his brothers David (Peggy, Nicole, Beth Ann, Katrina), Dennis (Audrey, Lori, Kelli), sisters Corine (Albert Lim Shue, Albert John, Catherine), Paulette Lue Choy (Jason, Darren), sister in law Cecelia (Sharon, Damian). Jeff also had a large extended family who will also miss his presence. Jeff was predeceased by his parents Allan and Nelly Chung, brother Leslie, parents-in-law Colin and Nellie Campbell, and brother-in-law Angus Campbell. On behalf of the family, we would like to thank the Tom Baker Cancer Clinic and his friends and colleagues at the Drumheller Health Center for their exceptional care and support in recent months. Prayer service will be held Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. Services will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
