MARSHALLl, Audrey Lenore

July 29, 1935 - December 2, 2015

Audrey passed away peacefully on December 2, 2015 at the Drumheller Continuing Care Facility after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her whole family. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Nickolas Marshall; her three sons, David and Melanie, Nolan and Talon of Drumheller; Jim of Calgary; Larry and Cheryl, Taylor, Tanner and Rachel of Calgary. She is also survived by her only sister, Shirley Driol of Hamilton; daughter Diane (Rob), son Ron (Claire) and cousin Sonny Dodd of Vancouver. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Reginald Ellis, her daughter Brenda and her grandfather Thomas Dodd. Audrey grew up in the Parkdale Community in Calgary with her parents and sister. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Girls School until Grade 11 at which time she went to work for a bank. It was at that time she met the love of her life, Nickolas Marshall. They were married on April 16, 1955 in Calgary. They had their first child Brenda on February 16, 1957 but she was taken to heaven after only five weeks. The following year David came along, quickly followed by Jim and Larry. They decided to pack up and move the family to Delia where they opened their own butcher shop business. Audrey worked countless hours there alongside her husband in the family business. She hated to leave the city but she soon learned to love the community of Delia and became very involved. She was an avid curler in the winter and enjoyed countless nights on the snowmobile with friends. She was a lifetime member of the Royal Purple. She worked for Canada Post for many years. She loved her crafts and ceramics. Once Nick retired and closed down the butcher shop they started to travel. They had 25 wonderful years with many friends travelling to Yuma, Arizona where they eventually settled every winter. A special thank you to Dr. Graham and the caring staff of the Drumheller Continuing Care Facility. There are far too many special people to mention. Thank you also as well to the Recreation Department, Home Care and the Occupational Therapy Departments. There were many caring people who made Audrey’s life that much better in her final years and when they came in to talk to her, her eyes lit up! Your care in her final days was very much appreciated and will never be forgotten. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 11 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 12 p.m., 1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W., Calgary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Drumheller Continuing Care Facility in memory of Audrey.
