NELSON, Lizzie Amelia (Swallow)

Lizzie Amelia (Swallow) Nelson was born on April 12, 1917. She grew up in Rowley, Alberta, second child to Henry and Gretchen Swallow. In 1936 she married Lowell Nelson. From this union, six children were born. Bob (Audrey), Lorna (Neil Sandberg), Jim (Judy), Pat (Ken Hatt), Ted (Valerie) (Jessie), Wanda (Lyle Peterson). Liz had 12 Grandchildren, 34 Great Grandchildren, and 22 Great Great Grandchildren. Lizzie was predeceased by her husband Lowell, son Ted, and daughter Lorna. The family lived and grew up on the farm by Rowley, and in 1967 Lizzie and Lowell retired to Trochu. Lizzie enjoyed life in her own home and time at the Senior’s Drop-In Centre in Trochu. At the age of 89, she moved to St. Mary’s Lodge. On December 23, 2014, she passed away peacefully, at St. Mary’s Health Care Centre, in Trochu, Alberta. Memories of her will be cherished and she will be missed by her large, loving family. A Memorial Service for Lizzie will be held January 3, 2015, at 2:00 pm, at the Trochu Community Centre, in Trochu, Alberta.
