MYERS James “Jim”

MYERS, James “Jim”
December 5, 1931 - February 10, 2014

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad, Grampy and Great Grampy, James “Jim” Myers on February 10, 2014. Jim is survived by his loving family; Sister Mary Reed of Sheffield, England; Daughter Penny, her husband Scott of Lehigh; Granddaughter Sheena, her husband Cody of Camrose; Grandson’s James Deans and Adam Linsenmeier both of Edmonton and the light of his life, his Great Grandson Carter James Watson. Jim was predeceased by his wife June (2004) and daughter Jill Male (2003). Jim was born December 5, 1931 in Sheffield, England to James “Pat” and Bertha Myers. He met his wife, June Roberts, in 1949; they married in 1954 and had two daughters together. They immigrated to Canada in 1967 and settled into Fort Langley, British Columbia. Jim worked in the Steel Industry until 1978 when he started a career in security which he did until retirement. Jim and his wife moved to Edmonton in 2002 to be near family. He moved to the Drumheller area 3 years ago and lived at both Sunshine and Hillview Lodges. Jim was an amazing man with the ability to make all those around him smile and was always bursting into song. He will be remembered for his love of books, music and films. His greatest passion has always been for his family who will miss him every day but they take great comfort in knowing he is with his beloved June who he has missed so much.  The family would like to thank Dr. Akinkunmi Dayo and all the caring staff at the Drumheller Health Centre for taking such good care of Jim in his final days. A service was held Saturday February 15 at the Salvation Army Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made directly to the Drumheller Health Centre 351-9th Street NW Drumheller, AB T0J 0Y1
