Millie Serkownak (nee Buchta) beloved wife of the late Ed Serkownak passed away peacefully in Calgary on Sunday September 15, 2013 at the age of 82 years. She is survived by her sisters; Irene Kakuk, Anne (John) Lakatos and Malvina (Keith) Warham all of Calgary as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Ed she was predeceased by a daughter Denise; her father Andrew Buchta (1955) and mother Mary Buchta (1976), uncle George Buchta (2003) aunt Mary Buchta (1985) and cousin Martin Buchta (1987) and John Buchta (2013). Millie was born in Drumheller, Alberta and later moved to Calgary, Alberta.  Millie acquired numerous friends throughout her life and not only loved nature’s butterflies but was a social butterfly herself. She was a kind generous and loving individual who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. She will be sadly missed and remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday September 19, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Knox United Church with Reverend Jan Richardson officiating. In honor of Millie’s memory memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice.
