POTTER (nee BEFUS) Elsa Frieda

POTTER (nee BEFUS), ELSA FRIEDA
July 22, 1923 – August 18, 2013

With much sadness the family of Elsa Frieda Potter (nee Befus) announces her passing at the Drumheller Long Term Care Centre.   Frieda was predeceased by her loving husband George (Bert) Potter in August 1995, her parents Peter and Katherine Befus, and brothers Peter and Henry Befus, sisters and spouses Katherine and Ralph Cameron, Pauline and Ulrich Schultheiss, Lydia and Hugh Watts, brother in laws and spouses John and Ellie Potter, Mick and Meriona Potter, Ervine and Arlene Potter as well as brothers in law Harry and Ivor Potter.  Frieda is survived by sister in law Doris Potter of Drumheller and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and many long-time friends. Frieda took great pride in remembering her caregiver’s names and took much interest in news about their families and friends.  We as a family thank all the caregivers at Drumheller Long Term Care Centre and the Recreation Dept. for helping her keep her dignity and grace through these last 6 years while in your care. Thank you to Dr. Maceka and staff for the kindness and care to our family during her last very long days. Frieda loved music and for many years she and Bert sang with their friends The Happy Gang Singers from Downtown House Senior Centre in Red Deer.  Frieda took great pride in her deportment and remained ever the lady until the time of her passing.  Frieda was a teacher, clerk and accountant.  She made many lifelong friends along the way and has kept in touch over the years via cards, letters and phone calls.  She often commented on the fact she had a good life, well lived. A very private person, she dealt with her various health issues with a tenacity we all admired.  She rarely complained about her lot.  She will be ever remembered and missed by all her family and friends.  A Celebration of Frieda’s life was held at the Heartland Funeral Chapel on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, if you so wish donations towards the Recreation Therapy Dept., Drumheller Health Care, 351 – 9th Street N.W.,  Drumheller, Alberta. T0J 0Y1 would be gratefully accepted.  Heartland Funeral Services, Ltd. Innisfail entrusted with arrangements.  Phone: 403-227-0006.  www.heartlandfuneralservices.com.
