JACQUES Darla Gail

JACQUES, Darla Gail
December 17. 1968 - June 12, 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darla Gail Jacques on June 12, 2013.  She passed away in Calgary, Alberta with her family by her side, she was 44 years old.  Darla was born December 17, 1968 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.   Darla took all of her schooling in the Drumheller Valley, starting at East End, then Central Elementary, Greentree and finally Drumheller Composite High School.  Upon completion of High School, Darla went to Olds College where she completed the Lifestyles Transition Course. She moved to Calgary for five months, but she wasn’t quite ready for the city life.   She then returned to the Valley, she loved to spend time with her beloved cats. For those who remember Darla, she was always out and about on her electric wheel chair with her little sister on her lap.  In Darla’s short life she overcame many challenges, but she always had a smile and a hello for all.  Darla was a very independent spirit, she moved to Calgary 15 years ago, where she met her special companion, Rob.  Together they volunteered lots at the Marlborough Mall, and went on many excursions together including her little sister’s wedding in the Dominican Republic.  Every July 1st, her and Rob returned to the Valley to visit her family and enjoy the festivities on that day. Darla was predeceased by both sets of grandparents, her dad, Ray Jacques, her brother Kevin Jacques, her aunt, Peggy McLelland, and infant nephew, Cain Jacques. Darla leaves to mourn her special companion, Rob Olisoff of Calgary, her mom, Shirley Jacques of Drumheller, her brother, Darryl (Lisa) Jacques of Drumheller, her sister, Lorilee (Clint) Riggins of Stettler, ten nieces and nephews, Ayrianna, Dallas, Brady, Austin, Dakota, Drayden, Desiree,  Isabelle, Dane, and Nixon, sister-in-law, Laureen Martin, her uncle, Murray McLelland, two cousins, Bryan (Krista) McLelland, Carrie McLelland, and their families. Darla also leaves to mourn the Olisoff family, and a lifetime of close friends. Funeral Services for Darla were held Tuesday, June 18, 2013 from Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes at 1:00 P.M., interment followed at the Drumheller Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The Alberta Children’s Hospital, and S.T.A.R.S. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes were in care of the arrangements.
