John David (Dave) Redgwell was born on March 29th, 1926 in Drumheller, Alberta and passed away on August 26th, 2012 at Heron Grove in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 86 years. He has now been reunited with his beloved wife Joyce who passed away on March 9th of this year. Dave will be lovingly remembered by his five children, Brian (Lee) of Calgary, Alberta, Don (Trish) of Vernon, B.C., Gordon (Allie) of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Sharon and Lyle, both of Vernon, B.C.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Shirley) of Victoria, B.C. and Wilson (Cheryl) of Olds, Alberta; one sister, Mary Leach of Olds, Alberta; his sister-in-law, Myrna Riches of Vernon, B.C.; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, dear friends; and his canine companion, Tammie.Dave was a member of the Elks and Masonic Lodges and believed in service to his community. He had a very outgoing personality, made friends easily and once a friend – you were a friend for life. Both he and Joyce were given to hospitality and their home was always open to whoever came to their door and no one was ever refused entry. Dave’s number one recreational love was camping and fishing and he loved to spend as much time as possible in the great outdoors. He enjoyed woodworking, painting and fly-tying. Dave sang in various choirs together with Joyce in every community they were fortunate to live.
Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Dave’s Life which will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church on Monday, September 10th, 2012 at 3:30 P.M. with Reverend Dr. Ed Millin and Reverend Dr. Teresa Charlton officiating.
