MARSHMAN, Dwayne Merle

MARSHMAN, Dwayne Merle

1954-2012

Dwayne Merle Marshman passed away peacefully on the afternoon of August 24, 2012 at the age of 57 years. Dwayne was surrounded by his wife of 37 years, children and sons-in-law in his passing as he was in his battle with cancer. He left us peacefully at 5:30 in the afternoon, with gracious love in his heart for all the support he received. Dwayne will be remembered for an unrivalled sense of generosity and strength. We feel he received just that in return during his final days. Dwayne was born in Drumheller on September 7, 1954, and was raised on the family farm between Rockyford and Carbon. Dwayne dedicated his life to that farm as well as the community of Rockyford where his passion as a coach, first in hockey then with ringette, formed a bond with players and peers that ran deep in his soul. Dwayne was an advocate of agriculture. Being a fourth generation farmer, he represented his fellow farmers through the Wildrose Agricultural Producers and countless other ventures. His role will forever be imprinted in agriculture. Dwayne was pre-deceased by his mother Verna and his brother-in-law Bill Shymanski. Dwayne is survived by his wife Mary, his daughter Kathy (Lance) Herriot and their daughters Josie and Jenna, his son Craig, and his daughter Kim (Ben) Salt. He is also survived by his father Merle, his siblings Lloyd (Cheryl), Rachel (Wayne) Orsten, Arlene Marshman, and Gerald Marshman, his mother and father-in-law Esther and Dick Koester, Mary’s siblings Glenn (Lois) Koester, Dianne Shymanski, Robert (Jacci) Koester, Karen Koester (Rob Kloppenborg) and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. To continue to aid in the battle against cancer, Dwayne wanted everyone who is able, to give the gift of donating blood. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Drumheller Palliative Care Unit. A prayer service was held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, Rockyford at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. To send condolences, please visit www.wheatlandfuneralhome.ca.
