Richard Peter Johnston of Drumheller, Alberta passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer on November 30, 2011. Richard is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lura Elaine Johnston; his children Robert Johnston (Mandy), Arlene Johnston, Donald Johnston, grandchildren: Ethan Scott, Dalen Scott, Anna Johnston, Mark Johnston, Jace Johnston, Parker Johnston and Lucas Mehus, brothers; Ronald Johnston (Jane), Lewis Johnston and sister Kathleen Hilborn (Rick) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter Harvey and Victoria May Johnston. Richard was born in Drumheller, and went to school in Orkney and Olds, AB. Richard lived a full and interesting life. Richard was a journeyman carpenter and a farmer. Richard had many hobbies, too numerous to list. He belonged to Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #22, N.F.A., Canadian Shooting Sports Association, SS1-Scuba Divers and Drumheller Shooters Association. Richard is loved and greatly missed by all his family and friends. Funeral Service were held at 2:00 P.M. , December 6, 2011 at Courtney-Winters Funeral Home, 199 - 2nd Street West, with Lt. Matt Sheils officiating. A private family interment followed in the Drumheller Municipal Cemetery.
