Alice Mae Alvira Gray (Currey) passed away peacefully at the Agape Hospice, in Calgary, Alberta on November 9, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.  She lived in Didsbury, Alberta for the past 5 years. Alice was a vibrant woman with many talents and accomplishments during her lifetime.  After raising seven children Alice returned to University of Calgary and received a degree in Social Work at the age of 54.  From there she worked tirelessly in Child Welfare.  She gave many children and adults a second chance at a better life.  After graduation Alice worked in Barrhead and Drumheller for the Alberta Government.  She then worked for the Calgary Health Region at the Peter Lougheed, Foothills and Rocky view Hospitals.  She was an amazing social worker and was looked at as a mentor to many social workers just starting in the field. Alice was one of six children born to the late James and Jean Currey of Roblin, Manitoba.   Alice was the fourth child of six.  Alice will be remembered by her devoted brother Jim Currey and loving sisters Arleen Agar and Vivian Woodley.  She was predeceased by her brother Art Currey and her sister Margaret Mackey.   She will forever be remembered by her loving children John, Jim, Bob (Lorraine), Jane (Dwayne Ervin), Susan (Iain Paton), Douglas (Christina) and her predeceased son David (Donna). Alice will also be fondly remembered by her 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  Her treasured grandchildren are Sean and Ryan Gray, Jennifer Gray, Melissa, Jessica, Emily, Steven and Isabel Gray, Michael, Kimberly and Hailey Ervin, Keegan and Mackenzie Paton, Kelsey and Nicole Gray, Cooper and Autumn Gray.  Her two precious great grandchildren are Genevieve and Charlize Redfern.  She did her best to be there for each and everyone of them and they all have precious memories to cherish. Wherever Alice lived she was always actively involved in the United Church of Canada.  She was a strong advocate for seniors and their rights.  She was also on numerous committees in her community, making a difference where ever she lived.  Alice was also an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Didsbury, Alberta.  Alice loved listening to classical music, playing the piano, dancing, laughing, traveling, spending time with her family and having fun with friends.  Alice touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.
