Madison Colberg is representing Canada at Miss Teen International.

A Drumheller woman has her sights set on making a difference and she has chosen the path of pageantry.
Madison Colberg, 19,  daughter of Kelly and Heather, has demonstrated a dedication to community as a student and currently enrolled at Mount Royal University.  Come July, she will be representing Canada in the 2015 Miss Teen International Pageant in Jacksonville, Florida.
“The pageant is a goal and motivation to push myself to new heights and grow,” Colberg told inSide Drumheller. “Being born with cleft lip and palate I have overcome many obstacles throughout my life, however this has only made me a stronger person. I want to inspire others that no matter the circumstances or incidences you have had in your life, it does not shape who you have to be. Rather, use these situations to encourage yourself to be strong and go places you didn’t think possible!”
She went through an application process online, in print and over the phone. She then ventured to Alabama for a photo shoot, interview and evening gown wear. She was selected from more than 100 to represent Canada.
“They are looking for someone who shows all around “beauty” through community involvement, achievements, passions, being personable and relatable to others, and being able to carry yourself in all manners of kindness, beauty, confidence and showing an interest in your community and country,” she said.
The pageant is over 10 days and is based on interviews, evening gown wear, fun fashion, fitness and promotion of a platform.
“My platform is to raise awareness about organ donation and encourage organ donation among all people. I will be working with the “Because I Can Project.” The project encourages organ donation registration and is trying to encourage all people to automatically be registered to donate their organs and then have the choice to opt out of donating if they so choose, however this will hopefully not be the case,” she said.  “As well, the project collects funds to help support families who have been impacted from organ donation. The project cover costs of hotels, food, gas, and lost time from work for parents who have children in the hospital receiving organ transplants.”
