Morrin curlers head to provincial playoffs

Two Morrin high school curling teams are heading to provincial playoffs next week after winning gold at the high school South Central Zone playoffs.
    The Morrin Mixed team and the Morrin Girls team both took home the gold after their final games Thursday, February 26, at the zone playoffs held in Airdrie.
    The Morrin Mixed High School Curling Team of Skip Evan Hampton, Third Caitlin Wolf, Second Lowell Nelson, Lead Jorden Ferguson, with coach Melanie Nelson, won all three of their games to advance to the semi-finals Thursday morning.
    Morrin won that game to face Olds in the final game Nelson describeS as a nail biter at the end, with the team edging out Olds by a final score of 10 to 9. The Morrin Girls team of Skip Katie Primrose, Third Amy Adams, Second Shelby Primrose, and Lead Jessica Wolf , with coach Betty Primrose, won their final game over Cochrane in the sixth end, with a score of 14 to zero. This year, the players will be heading to Lloydminster for provincials on March 5, 6 and 7.The Morrin Boys Team captured the Bronze medal at zones. The team’s players are Skip Garrett Holowath, Third Brett Holowath, Second Brayden Davidson, and Lead Dan McNaughton, with coach Kent Holowath.
