Laughlin released on $5k bail over manslaughter charges

A Nacmine man accused of manslaughter was released on $5,000 bail and required to abide to conditions, after a man was found beaten and subsequently died after being taken off life support earlier this month.     Calvin Wade Laughlin, 49, was released from custody on the bail and the court requires he: keep on good behavior, report weekly to Drumheller RCMP, remain in Alberta and live at his Nacmine residence, keep curfew between 10:00 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., prohibited from possessing or using intoxicating substances, and prohibited from possessing a weapon.
Laughlin was charged with manslaughter after another Nacmine resident, Austin Neil McMaster, 55, was found unconscious and beaten in the neighbourhood on the morning of May 4. McMaster was taken to a Calgary hospital where he was subsequently taken off life support and succumbed to his injuries.
Laughlin is scheduled to appear at the Drumheller courthouse on June 10.
