Dvss to present musical production of “All Shook Up!”

Eighteen DVSS students in grades 10-12 are members of the cast who have been working extremely hard in preparation for a major musical production directed by Becky Neuman with assistance from Lisa Marie Macdonald, both of whom currently teach the choir at DVSS. Along with them are a  number of other students who are helping to prepare the set, and will work behind the scenes to make the show possible.  This production is sponsored by Kaleidoscope Theatre and is part of their season programming.  This is the first time in a number of years that the high school has teamed up with the community theatre to present a major production.  The students are able to get credits for their commitment, or gather volunteer hours.  They are also excited about the prospect of performing in a large production.  Some of the students have some experience in performing in the past in choir or drama or private voice lessons, or a combination, but for many, this is their first big show.  On a personal note, the director, Becky Neuman is very impressed at how hard these students are working to bring this show to life, even though many of them have no singing experience or musical background.
“ALL SHOOK UP!” was written by Joe Dipietro, and was inspired by and features the songs of Elvis Presley. It takes place in 1955, somewhere in middle America, where one girl’s dream and a surprise visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing stranger help a small town to discover the magic of romance and the power of rock & roll. Among the 24 songs featured in the score are classics like “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Love Me Tender,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” and of course the title tune, “ALL SHOOK UP!”
The show runs November 29 through December 4.  All performances start at 7:30 in the Kaleidoscope Theatre.  Tickets are very reasonably priced and should be purchased in advance. You can order tickets by going on the Kaleidoscope Theatre website or by phoning 823-PLAY(7529). Please come out and support this awesome production.  We promise you will have a great time.
