Village of Hussar 2016 initiatives look promising

The Village of Hussar 2015 Council had several initiatives to participate in. The Viability Study began and the public put forth their views and ideas at an open house.
Council is starting an Infrastructure Study in 2016, which will be the main part of the Viability Study. Once Council has this critical information, a fair and impartial decision can be made on the viability of the Village.
The Village will be moving ahead in 2016 with Service Organization ownership of the Arena and Community Hall.  Depending on the member’s wishes, the Sundowner Centre may also become Service Organization ownership.  Council anticipates transition of ownership, with little or no effect on the Village.  “Though it may look to you that these ownership transfers indicate we have already decided on the viability of the Village, this is not the case.  Viability will be largely determined by the state of our infrastructure – our water/sewer lines and buildings and equipment.” said Mayor Tim Frank.
Council continued to deal with animal control and other issues such as noise, nuisance property issues; they will ultimately lead to new Bylaw Enforcement measures in 2016.
Council addressed the Lift Station and ground water issues that have plagued the village over the last few years.  The Fire Association has ordered a new fire truck. Council is also working on the 2016 budget.
Mayor Tim Frank expressed, “Thank you to everyone for making this the special village it is and thanks to all who work for and represent this village so well.”
