Sunday’s snow had a positive affect for residents of Wheatland County as it lifted its fire ban.

The Mail reported in its March 11 edition that the county suspended its fire permits. Other are municipalities were also on high alert due to dry conditions.

On Friday, March 13, Wheatland County issued an all out fire ban.

A Sunday afternoon blanket of snow brought enough moisture for them to breathe easier and life the ban.

“We appreciate the moisture,” Jim Laslo general manager of agriculture told The Mail.

He said as the weather improves and new grasses begin to sprout, it would lessen the risks going forward.
