Phyllis May Bramley (King) passed away peacefully on January 18, 2023 in Drumheller, AB with her son Keith (Sheila) by her side. Phyllis was born on May 15, 1925 to Mr. and Mrs. James King on a farm located 10 miles north of Carbon. The third of five daughters, Phyllis attended Webb School until Grade 10. After school she kept busy with housekeeping, hairdressing and a number of other odd jobs for many families in Carbon. Phyllis was also employed for eleven years by the Bank of Montreal as a janitor and worked part time at the Carbon Post Office.
In 1947 Phyllis married Sydney Bramley and they made their home in Carbon. In 1959 she welcomed her son Keith into the world. Anyone who knew Phyllis knew that Keith was her world. Phyllis was active in the community and served on the Community Hall board spending countless hours on projects. One of Phyllis’s favourite past time was curling. She was an active member of the Carbon Curling Club for many years and could often be found providing delicious food and desserts for community events or the lions Club. Phyllis had a love for flowers, gardening and her pets, especially her bulldog Jerry and her cat Boots who spent many nights guarding the power pole so the neighbours’ cat wouldn’t escape. Her retirement was spent in Three Hills, Strathmore and finally Drumheller. During this time, she enjoyed making new friends and while she never considered herself old, nothing put a smile on her face more than beating someone in a game of Crib, particularly one of these “old crocks.”
Phyllis is survived by her son Keith, his partner Sheila, their family, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her husband Sydney and sisters Ruth, Edith, Lucy, and Frances, as well as Sydney’s brothers and sisters. Phyllis’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff at the Sunshine and Hillview lodges for the exceptional care they provided for Phyllis. We would also like to thank Dr. Tlhape and the ER and medical staff at the Drumheller Hospital for making her as comfortable as possible. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Muriel Hampton passed away on January 18, 2023. Muriel will be missed by her daughter Michele (Steve Johnston), grandchildren Chloe and Luke, brothers Maurice and Norbert Lanteigne and sister Jacqueline Lanteigne and numerous other cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Skip, parents Rita and Julien Lanteigne, brother Rejean Lanteigne and sister Lucie Lanteigne as well as other relatives and friends.
Muriel was born in Bathurst, NB and grew up on the sea in Caraquet, NB. She finished nursing school in NB in 1965 and decided to journey west with her friend for new adventures and to nurse at the Drumheller Hospital.
Muriel nursed for many years at the Drumheller Hospital, Drumheller Home Care, and the Drumheller Penitentiary. She made many lifelong friends in her years in health care. Muriel met Skip and they were married on March 17, 1967. They lived just north of Rowley where they raised their daughter Michele. Muriel and Skip were involved in many community activities. She also farmed with Skip and learned to drive and back up farm vehicles and machinery.
Muriel loved to have projects and decorate. She was proud to say she completed 17 projects around her house in 2022. Muriel loved her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved spending time with both old friends and new friends. Muriel was always a proud Acadian.
Special thanks to Muriel’s health care providers and friends that helped her out when she needed a hand.
Please join us in celebrating Muriel’s life at the Rowley Community Hall on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 2:00 pm.

Condolences to the family of Garth Martin Cote

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Garth in the Drumheller Health Centre, surrounded with family and friends, at the age of 68. He was born in Rimbey, AB with schooling in Falher, AB and Abbottsford, BC. He became a welder by trade, working in Fort McMurray, Slave Lake, Edmonton, Wainwright and lastly Hinton, AB.
He is survived by his mother, Joan, of Drumheller, brothers Larry (Geraldine) of Hinton, Burt of Drumheller, Wendell (Julene) of Red Deer and his sister Joanne of Drumheller.
He is also survived by his six children, and seven grandchildren, Janice Cote, Natasha Thompson (Ben), Tyson, Accayla, Ben, Garrett Cote (Kayla), Olivia and Lucas, and Kyle Cote (Megan) Nora, Shelby Cote (Conrad), Paige and Jordon Cote.
Also left to mourn are his great buddies in Hinton.
Garth was pre-deceased by his father, Leonard in 2003 and his infant sister, Janice in 1958. There will be no service at this time and his remains will be laid to rest with his Dad, in Munson.
Special thanks to the great staff at the Hinton Health Care Centre and especially Dr. Tlhape and his wonderful nurses at the Drumheller Health Centre during his final weeks. You guys really rocked!
