SANDER, A. Albinus (Sandy)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of A. Albinus (Sandy) Sander on March 18, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Donelda, son Mark Sander (Elaine) of Hanna, daughters Margaret Perrin (John) of Red Deer, and Louise Stuber (Ken) of Edmonton; grandchildren Cody (Christy), Samantha, and Joshua Sander; Tiana, Sarah and Kyndra (Nick) Stuber. He is predeceased by his son Joseph in 2005, as well as three brothers and two sisters. He was born on the family farm outside Beiseker on March 1, 1934. He married Donelda in January of 1960. They farmed in Beiseker until 1967 when they moved to Drumheller, where Sandy became one of the first staff members at the Drumheller Institution. He served at the Institution for more than 25 years. For many years, he was actively involved in youth bowling. He also enjoyed rockhounding and, after retirement, woodworking. He spent many a Saturday helping his son Joe sell his jewellery and crafts at the Farmers’ Market. A private family gathering was held Sunday, March 20, with interment to be held at a future date. If desired, memorial donations can be made to the Drumheller Health Centre.
