WOLF, Nina Winona (Lafferty)

It is with great sadness that we announce our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Nina Wolf passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 1, 2011. She had a kind and gentle soul, and will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her. Nina was born September 18, 1923 on the Friedley homestead at Delia, AB. Her mother Margaret (Martin) Lafferty was cooking for a threshing crew at the time. Her father Fred Lafferty was an old time peddler who went all around the country selling his wares. Nina attended Springwater School until her family moved to Drumheller, where she finished school and later worked at the Drumheller Hospital. Nina married Adam Wolf on November 13, 1943 and they moved to the Gillrie farm near Morrin, where they raised five children. Nina resided in Morrin until December, 2004, at which time she moved into the Sunshine Lodge and then Hillview in 2009. She was predeceased by her husband Adam in 1982 and her eldest son David in 1989. Nina is survived by her loving family: daughter-in-law Sandy (Rene Gaucher) of Morrin, Linda (Keith) Larsen of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Rick (Diana) Wolf of Morrin, Don (Sharon) Wolf of Victoria, BC, and Marilyn (Wayne Rowell) of Morrin; grandhcildren Troy (Lisa) Wolf, Darren (Tracy) Wolf, Jason (Christine) Wolf, Denice Larsen, Kimberly (Chad) Kaufman, Celina (Chris) Campbell, Lisa Wolf, Justin Wolf; great-grandchildren Colton, Jessica, Caitlin, Nicole, Donavon, Riley, Tanner, Christopher, Nicholas and Makayla. Respecting Nina’s wishes, there will be no formal memorial service. A private family interment will take place in the spring. Donations can be made in Nina Wolf’s name and memory to Hillview Lodge or a charity of one’s choice.
