Frank Sherring of Carbon Alberta, beloved husband of Hilda, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2010 at the grand age of 93 years. Frank was born at home on the farm, near Grainger Alberta, on January 21, 1917. After attending the country school of Simco, his life long career was being a heavy-duty mechanic for Garrett Motors/Big Country Farm Centre of Carbon. Frank proudly served our country overseas in WWII from 1942-1946 where he met and married his English war bride. Frank was a member of both the Legion and Masonic Lodge of Carbon and a founding member of Pioneer Acres Plowmen & Threshermen’s Club of Alberta. Dad’s passions were camping, farming, and collecting antiques. His proudest restorations being his 1911, 25-45 Model B Rumely Oil Pull; 1927 Chev One Ton; and 1917, 490 Chev. Besides his loving wife, Hilda, he is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Glenn) Knoll of Winfield BC and son, Ted Sherring (Kim) of Medicine Hat AB; Grandchildren: Holly (Todd) Schnell, Chad (Angela) Oram, Blaine (Jill) Sherring and Colleen Sherring; Great Grandchildren: Kathleen, Alexei & Berlin Schnell; Owen & Tracy Oram, and Fiona Sherring; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their families in Canada and England. Frank was predeceased by his father, Edward (Ted) & mother, Winnifred Sherring; younger brother, Dick Sherring; and younger sisters Eileen (Don) Morrison & Margaret (Jules) Ancelet. A Memorial Service will be held at the Carbon Community Centre, Carbon, AB on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial Donations, may be made to Pioneer Acres, Box 58, Irricana, AB T0M 1B0 or Carbon Legion Branch #161, Box 539, Carbon, AB T0M 0L0.  Courtney-Winters Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.   403-823-2666.
