Franklin Elmer Soper passed away May 15, 2010 at the age of 91 in the Continuing Care Facility at the Drumheller Health Complex. He was born on May 4, 1919 on the farm in Simpson, SK to Steve and Matilda Soper. Frank remained on the farm until he married Ruth Stueck in 1942. He volunteered to serve his country during World War II and was in active duty in Europe between 1943 and 1945 as a “LAC” in the Royal Canadian Airforce. In 1950, he moved his family to Drumheller, AB. He enjoyed having his family with him. He was a private person and didn’t speak of his accomplishments, such  as taking flying lessons at age 60. Frank was predeceased by his wife, Ruth, in 2005. He leaves behind his four children: Margaret (Pat) Schaffer, Edmonton,AB; Patricia Rovere (Allan), Surrey, BC; Gary Soper, Moyie, BC; Barbara (Dave) Soper, Grande Prairie, AB; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and his sister-in-law, Eleanor Roszell of Regina, SK. Frank’s family would like to acknowledge Dr. Nahornick and Dr. Maseka along with the staff at the Sunshine Lodge, Home Care and Continuing Care for their exceptional care and compassion over the past four years. Interment to follow at a later date.
