WORTHINGTON, John Raymon

 worthington-john-raymon.jpgIt is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ray Worthington of Standard, Alberta on August 22, 2009 at the age of 60 years. Ray was born in Didsbury, Alberta and spent most of his childhood in Champion before moving to Calgary.  He spent the past 25 years living in Standard where he enjoyed coaching hockey, hiking in the mountains with the Ventures and spending time with friends and family. He loved the past 35 years operating Worthington Construction Ltd. He will be greatly missed by Bena Worthington, his loving wife of 38 years; his children Lori (Eric) d’Argent, Mike (Lisa) Worthington, Daniel (Heather) Worthington, Julie Worthington (Scott Mohr) and his grandchildren, Lucas & Stella D’Argent, Isabelle Worthington, Noah & Georgia Worthington, and Abby-Rae Worthington, “his six best teachers”. Ray is also survived by his sister Pat (Dan) Harris and his brothers, Garry (Judi) Worthington, and Reg (Adele) Worthington and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his father John (June, 1995) and his mother Jewel (October, 2008). Ray will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A public viewing will be held on Thursday, August 27, at Wheatland Funeral Home  (202 Lakeside Blvd., Strathmore) between 7:00 and 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Ray’s life will be held on Friday, August 28, 2009 at the Standard Community Hall at 2:00 pm.
