Alice Farmer of Drumheller passed away at the Drumheller Health Center on August 13, 2009 at the age of 86 years. She was born in Hebburn, England where in 1945 she met and married Douglas who was serving with the Canadian Black Watch Regiment during the Second World War. In 1946 she immigrated to Canada as a war bride taking up residence with Douglas in Drumheller where she lived until passing. Alice worked with the cleaning staff at the Drumheller Hospital for a period of 25 years. She loved her job and this love was exceeded only by her love for her family. Her love for her family was evident by the quality time she spent with each and every one of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her strength, kindness, wisdom, and guidance will be remembered forever. Alice is survived by her daughters; Maureen (Larry) Needham of Airdrie, AB, Colleen (Doug) Finkbiner of Drumheller AB, Brenda (Don) Yavis of Drumheller, AB, and sons; Alan (Maryanne) of Drumheller, AB, Brian of Abbotsford BC, Kevin (Linda) of Drumheller, AB, Darrin (Betty) of Drumheller, AB as well as twenty-two grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Alice was predeceased by her husband Douglas and son Tom. The family would like to thank the staff of the Drumheller and District Seniors Foundation and the Drumheller Health Center for the excellent care and love given to Alice.
