Shirley passed away at the Drumheller Hospital at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband John Steward, son Leslie (Louise) Steward, granddaughter Melisa Steward and second husband Ron Hodgson.
She is survived by her children – Fay (Ed) Hnetka, children Rena (Les) Lafferty their children (Kiara, Deklen, Klay), and Becky Hnetka; Elmer (Illona) Steward, children Maralee and Angela; Don Steward, children Steven and Jason (Lindsay Mcleod) Steward; Sheila (Ken) Marquardt, children Jonathan (Jen) Marquardt, Michelle (Adam Kline) Marquardt; Vern (Donnerene) Steward, children Jeremy Steward, Janell (Darryl) Caravan, and Joel (Elizabeth) Steward; One brother William Steedsman (Lois), and sisters-in-law, Helen, Dawn, Hilda Steedsman, and Gertie Chambers.
Shirley grew up in Foam Lake, SK, was one of eleven siblings (4 boys and 7 girls) whom she was the remaining daughter.
Funeral arrangements by Courtney-Winters Funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Drumheller Health Center Palliative care. Memorial service was held June 8, 2009 at the Drumheller Church of the Nazarene.
