SOGZ, Reverend Frederick

sogz.jpgRev. Frederick Sogz from Calgary passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the age of 73 years. Fred started teaching in 1959 in southern Alberta and retired in 1985. After his retirement Fred entered the seminary and was ordained as a Priest on February 23, 1990 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Calgary. Fred served in several parishes in the Calgary Catholic Diocese and in the Nelson Diocese in British Columbia. Fred enjoyed the outdoors particularly canoeing and walking his dog Lexie. Fred is survived by his loving children, Ruth and Dave Hession, Michael and Linda Sogz, Anne and Doug Smith, Mary and Real Sogz-McDuff, Donna Sogz and John McQueen; grandchildren, Steven, Dale and Dean Hession, Leanne and Kelli Smith, Jessica Kemp; Fred is also survived by a brother: Mervin and Sharon Sogz. Fred was predeceased by his parents Katherine and Frank Sogz and a son Frank Sogz. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18 Avenue S.W. Calgary, AB) on Wednesday January 14, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Concelebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18 Avenue S.W.
